Loretta Lees is Professor of Human Geography in the Department of Geography, University of Leicester. She lives in, and writes on, urban issues in London and beyond. Her research expertise is in gentrification/urban regeneration, global urbanism, urban policy, urban public space, urban communities, architecture, and urban social theory. She has published 7 books including the premier text in gentrification studies Gentrification (with Tom Slater and Elvin Wyly, Routledge, 2008); and is currently working on 3 more including Global Gentrifications and Comparative Urbanisms (with Hyun Shin and Ernesto Lopez, for Polity Press’s Future Cities series) and Sustainable London? The future of a global city (edited with Rob Imrie for Policy Press). She is also working on An Anti-Gentrification Toolkit for London (with Just Space, SNAG and The London Tenants Federation) part of her Antipode Activist Scholar Award research into state-led gentrification in London.
