Dr Monica Degen
Monica Degen teaches Cultural Sociology at Brunel University. She has published on topics relating to Barcelona's and Manchester's urban planning, the politics of public space, urban green spaces and the relationship between the senses and city life. She is currently the reciepent of a British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship (2016-2017), researching how time shapes the ways we perceive our urban environment. She previously co-led an interdisciplinary project funded by the ESRC on 'Urban aesthetics: a comparison of experiences in Milton Keynes and Bedford town centres' with Professor Gillian Rose. She is author of Sensing Cities (Routledge, 2008) and co-author of La Metaciudad: Barcelona (Anthropos, 2008).
